Awesome experience. Tour was guided by a former miner who provided interesting insights and even ran some original equipment like drillers.
Made a 13 hour trip here to learn some good knowledge about how gold mining was done into the side of a mountain. Worth every dollar, but would of been better if I had kids for the gold panning Troughs they had out.
Amazing tour! Remnants of mining all over the area. Continue down the road to Animas Forks and see a well kept ghost town. The tour was guided by a passionate and knowledgeable multiple generation miner. You get to ride a mining cart into the mooning tunnels! Don't miss the jailhouse and mining museum in town too.
They accommodated our reunion group of 40 people! My kids loved the train ride in and out. My 3 year old did not appreciate the loud machinery when it was turned on for the tour.
Great fun for kids, and even adults will enjoy the history and journey into the miner's realm. The old timers share their mining history while the kids pan for gems and minerals outside.
